FAQ
Questions about building and managing a team in Jordan
Straight answers about how EmployMENA works — recruitment, Employer of Record, staffing and nearshoring, and ongoing workforce support. Where an answer depends on your specific situation, we say so rather than generalise.
General / EmployMENA
What is EmployMENA?
EmployMENA is the workforce-services offering of Business Alliance. It brings recruitment, employment and ongoing workforce support together under one partner, so organizations building teams in Jordan work with a single point of contact instead of coordinating several separate providers. You can read more about us.
What services does EmployMENA provide?
Five connected services: Recruitment, Recruit & Employ, Employer of Record, Nearshoring and Workforce Management. They can be used together or independently.
Which markets does EmployMENA support?
Jordan and Palestine are our current full-service operational markets for Recruitment, Recruit & Employ, Employer of Record, Nearshoring and Workforce Management. Our recruitment team has also delivered searches for client requirements in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, Iraq and Oman. Availability of services other than Recruitment outside Jordan and Palestine should be confirmed for the specific country and requirement. See the markets we cover.
How is this different from using a recruitment agency?
A recruitment agency typically finishes once a candidate accepts an offer. We can continue past that point by employing the person through an Employer of Record arrangement and supporting them afterwards. You can still use recruitment on its own if that is all you need. Our guide on EOR vs a recruitment agency goes into more detail.
Do we have to use all of your services together?
No. Each service works on its own. Some clients use recruitment only, some ask us to employ people they have already selected, and some use the full path from hiring through to ongoing support.
Which service should I choose?
Choose Recruitment if you need help finding talent and will employ the person directly. Choose Recruit & Employ if you need us to find the talent and provide the local employment structure. Choose EOR if you already have the person and need a local employer and employment administration. For a consultant or contractor working on a defined task or short-term project, ask about our project-based consultant and contractor engagements, an Employer of Record use case rather than a separate service. Choose Nearshoring if you want to build or expand a dedicated workforce in Jordan with local employment and operational support. Choose Workforce Management if your company already employs the workforce and needs payroll and HR administration support. For a side-by-side view of all five services, see the service comparison.
Recruitment
What does your recruitment service cover?
Understanding the role and what success in it looks like, sourcing and screening candidates, presenting a shortlist, and supporting you through interviews and the offer stage. See recruitment.
What kinds of roles do you recruit for?
We recruit across a range of functions and seniority levels in the sectors we work in. You can see the industries we support. If you are unsure whether a role fits, describe it to us and we will tell you honestly.
Can you recruit someone and then employ them for us?
Yes. That combined path is what we call Recruit & Employ — we find the person, then employ them on your behalf so you do not need to hand over to another provider in between.
How long does recruitment usually take?
It depends on the role, its seniority and how specialised the skills are. Rather than quote a general timeline, we give you a realistic view for your specific role once we understand what you are looking for.
Employer of Record (EOR)
What is an Employer of Record?
An Employer of Record is a service arrangement where a local employer employs a worker on behalf of another organization, while you continue to direct their day-to-day work. See Employer of Record.
Can we employ someone in Jordan without setting up our own company there?
An EOR arrangement can provide a route to employ someone in Jordan without establishing your own local entity, subject to the applicable requirements for your situation. See EOR in Jordan, or our guide on hiring without a local company.
What does the EOR handle, and what stays with us?
In general, the Employer of Record holds the formal employment relationship and the administration that comes with it, while you continue to manage the person, their priorities and their performance. The exact split is confirmed as part of the arrangement rather than assumed.
Is an EOR the right choice for us, or should we set up an entity?
It depends on how many people you plan to employ, how long for, and whether you intend to establish a local presence later. Our comparison of EOR vs setting up a company in Jordan sets out the trade-offs so you can weigh them against your own plans.
Can you employ someone we have already chosen?
Yes. If you have already identified the person, we can take on the employment side. Tell us about the role through Request a Quote and select the option for a candidate you have already found.
Staffing and Nearshoring
What is the difference between staffing and nearshoring?
Staffing is about adding capacity to your existing team, often for a defined need or period. Nearshoring is about building part of your team in a nearby country such as Jordan while staying connected to your existing operations. Both are covered under staffing and nearshoring.
Why do companies consider Jordan for nearshoring?
Common reasons are its location in the region and working-hours overlap with both European and Gulf business days. Whether it suits you depends on the roles involved and how your team works, which is worth discussing against your actual setup.
Can you build a whole team rather than filling one role?
Yes. Requirements range from a single addition to building out a team over time. Describe the shape of the team you have in mind and we will come back with an approach.
How do we request a staffing or nearshoring quote?
Go to Request a Quote and choose the Staffing / Nearshoring option. That opens a short form for the workforce details we need to respond usefully.
Workforce Management and HR Support
What does workforce management include?
Support after people are in role — employment administration, payroll support and day-to-day HR processes — so the arrangement keeps running properly once hiring is done. See workforce management.
Can you support employees we employ directly ourselves?
That depends on how your employment is currently structured. Tell us your setup and we will tell you what we can and cannot support in your case.
Do you handle payroll?
Payroll support is part of our workforce support. The precise scope depends on the arrangement, so it is confirmed with you rather than assumed. Our overview of payroll in Jordan gives useful background.
What happens if our requirements change later?
Arrangements can be adjusted as your team grows or your needs shift. That is part of why the services are designed to connect rather than sit separately.
Hiring and Employing in Jordan
Can a foreign company hire employees in Jordan?
There are established routes for foreign companies to engage people in Jordan, and which one applies depends on the company and the role. Our guide on whether a foreign company can hire employees in Jordan explains the options. For your own position, take professional advice alongside talking to us.
What should we know about employment contracts in Jordan?
Contract requirements vary with the type of employment and the circumstances, so general statements are not much use. Our overview of employment contracts in Jordan is a starting point, and we confirm specifics for your case.
How does social security work for employees in Jordan?
Social security is part of employing people in Jordan, and how it applies depends on the individual arrangement. See our overview of social security in Jordan.
What is involved in running payroll in Jordan?
Payroll involves recurring administration that has to stay accurate over time. Our overview of payroll in Jordan covers the general shape of it.
Do you support hiring in Palestine as well as Jordan?
Yes. Palestine, like Jordan, is a current full-service operational market for EmployMENA. We support Recruitment, Recruit & Employ, Employer of Record, Nearshoring and Workforce Management in Palestine, depending on the workforce requirement and the appropriate engagement structure.
MENA Expansion
Do you support expansion beyond Jordan?
Yes. Jordan and Palestine are our current full-service operational markets. Our recruitment experience also includes Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, Iraq and Oman. Availability of services other than Recruitment outside Jordan and Palestine should be confirmed for the specific country and requirement.
We are considering MENA but have not chosen a country yet. Can you still help?
Yes, and it is a common starting point. Tell us what you are trying to achieve through Request a Quote and select the expansion option, and we will work through the options with you.
Can you advise which market we should enter?
We can share what we see operationally across the markets we work in, which is often useful early on. We are a workforce services provider, not a legal or tax advisor, so decisions with legal or tax consequences should be taken with professional advice.
What is the first step for a regional expansion?
Usually a conversation about what you are trying to build and over what period. You can book a consultation to start there.
Working With Us
How do we get started?
Either request a quote if you know roughly what you need, or book a consultation if you would rather talk it through first.
What happens after we submit a request?
We review what you have sent, come back to clarify anything that is unclear, recommend an approach that fits the requirement, and then discuss the next step with you.
How much does it cost?
There is no standard published price, because cost depends on the service, the roles involved, how many people and over what period. We provide a quote based on your actual requirement rather than a generic figure.
Do you provide legal or tax advice?
No. We are a workforce services provider, not a law firm or a tax advisor. We can explain how our services work and what we handle operationally, but positions with legal or tax consequences should be confirmed with a qualified professional.
How do we contact you?
Through the contact page, or by sending a request via Request a Quote.
